The Olimpiyskiy sports complex in Moscow is scheduled to open in early 2027, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The large-scale reconstruction will transform the legendary venue into a modern multifunctional center meeting the highest international standards.
According to Sobyanin, once completed, Olimpiyskiy will become a true sports cluster, bringing together a wide range of facilities for both professional athletes and amateurs. The complex will host around 100 different sports venues.
Special attention is being given to aquatic sports. Olimpiyskiy will offer visitors 15 swimming pools, including two Olympic-size pools compliant with international competition requirements. This will allow Moscow to host top-level championships.
Beyond sports, the renewed complex will also become a major destination for cultural life. Plans include state-of-the-art concert halls capable of welcoming world-class performers, as well as a wide variety of restaurants offering diverse cuisine.
Sobyanin emphasized that Olimpiyskiy will not just be a sports facility, but a full-fledged public space open to all residents and visitors of the capital. The mayor expressed confidence that the new complex will be “amazing” and a true pride of Moscow.
