"We are continuing the reconstruction of the legendary Olimpiyskiy," Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his telegram channel.
The new complex will consist of four structures, three of which are connected by a stylobate:
- The main building with a transformer concert hall for 12 thousand spectators, a cinema cluster, a shopping gallery, gastronomic areas and event venues;
- A sports and recreation complex with more than 100 different venues, including an ice arena, halls for curling, boxing, wrestling, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, court tennis and other sports;
- An aquatic complex with 15 swimming pools, 2 of which are Olympic with stands for 4,000 spectators and the possibility of holding international competitions, as well as areas for surfing, beach soccer and volleyball, fencing, oriental martial arts, etc.
- Facade cladding and installation of engineering systems and equipment are already underway on the buildings. There are also plans to build a small concert hall for 2 thousand spectators.
- The complex will have everything for professional sports competitions, amateur activities, cultural and business events, family recreation and entertainment.
- A new metro station of the Dostoevskaya Ring Line will open next to the complex, and it will take about a minute to get to the Olimpiyskiy from it.
